Rethinking care

In finally's Research Lab, ideas aren't born on the drawing board, but through dialogue. Together with professionals, those affected, and their families, we develop solutions that noticeably ease everyday stress while simultaneously enabling dignity, self-determination, and closeness.

Co-Creation in the Care Atelier

A central component of our Research Lab is the Care Atelier – a space for collaborative reflection, development, and experimentation. Here, nursing practice, design, and research converge, creating prototypes that are then tested and further developed in everyday life.

We invite professionals, patients, and family members to discussions, workshops, and material experiments. This exchange on equal terms is crucial for us, because only then can we create products that are truly needed. How can care be designed to be touching? Which forms or materials provide a sense of security?

Dignity is not a luxury

In many areas of care, standardized, sterile products are still used, primarily intended to function. In doing so, it's easy to overlook the power of things to shape our emotional experience. Finally aims to encourage a change of perspective: Dignity, beauty, and sensuality are not luxuries, but needs to which all people are entitled – especially in moments of dependency.

We believe that caring and design are not mutually exclusive, but can reinforce each other. A soft cloth or a gently shaped handle offers not only support but also emotional strength.

A Growing Dialogue

The Research Lab is not a finished project, but a living process. We learn with every conversation, every encounter, and every piece of feedback. Our research is not abstract—it thrives on dialogue.

That's why we welcome people who want to think further with us: nurses, designers, scientists, relatives, and those affected. Together, we want to explore how care can be reimagined, redesigned, and re-experienced – with dignity, humanity, and self-determination. Ultimately, because only together can we develop a sustainable culture of care.
